YOUTH EDUCATION
The Oklahoma Better Futures Project (OKBFP) seeks to work in partnership with Family and Consumer Sciences teachers across Oklahoma to bring proven, evidence-based curricula to classrooms in high-risk communities that will prepare participating teachers to achieve positive results in relationship education.

ABOUT THE HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP SKILLS CURRICULUM TRAINING
The Oklahoma Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (OK-FCCLA) in collaboration with the Social Innovation Laboratory (SIL) is offering Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) teachers the opportunity to receive free training and continuing education from The Dibble Institute using their evidenced-based curriculum Love Notes SRA® and Relationship Smarts Plus 4.0. In addition, participating teachers* would receive free workbooks and supplies for their classes and $500 to spend on promoting positive youth development initiatives in their classrooms and reduce the rates of teen pregnancy in Oklahoma communities.
WHAT IS LOVE NOTES-SRA?
The Love Notes (grades 9-12) content encourages youth to learn more about themselves and supports them in cultivating a vision for their future. It also empowers them with the skills needed to further their own personal development and build their skill capacity to follow through with their intentions. Love Notes-SRA provides vision building, skills, guides and frameworks to raise youth’s confidence that they can develop healthy selves and healthy relationships.
Love Notes-SRA is an adaptation of Relationship Smarts Plus (grades 6-8), which has been tested and is listed in the National Registry of Evidence based Programs and Practices, a service of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. After each lesson there is a trusted-adult activity to build a bond by communicating with a parent, caring adult, or mentor about these topics.
*All teachers must agree to participate in a brief data collection process with students in identified FCS classes, for which separate incentives will be provided to all teachers for each student.
Interested and selected teachers will be invited to participate in a virtual meeting to discuss the OKBFP in more detail before being asked to commit to participation. *Classroom materials, mileage to/from training site, hotel and meals included in free training*
