Voices at the Table:
Building a Shared Community Vision for Wichita
Inspired by inclusive and impact-focused approaches, the Voices at the Table initiative invites all residents of Wichita to co-create a forward-looking vision for our city’s future. Through neighborhood dialogues and shared storytelling, we’ll uncover collective values that reflect our community's hopes, needs, and aspirations—guided by principles of connection, equity, and action.

What We're Building
Through detailed research into community engagement, we're drawing inspiration from the data-informed and storytelling organization SA2020, in San Antonio, TX. By utilizing their thematic framework— we can create clear, values-based engagement categories that help organize conversation focus areas. Potential themes include:

-
Neighborhood Voices - What makes your neighborhood unique?
-
Education & Opportunity - Dreams for learning and youth development
-
Health & Well-Being - Access to services, wellness, and community care
-
Equity & Civic Participation - Inclusive leadership, representation, and access
-
Environment & Green Spaces - Parks, sustainability, climate resilience

These themes will guide us in framing meaningful conversations across Wichita
How It Works

-
Volunteer Ambassadors will be recruited and trained to host small-group conversations throughout the city.
-
Community Conversations will happen in accessible local venues like libraries, schools, community centers, and places of worship.
-
Input & Ideas will be collected and synthesized into community-informed priorities—forming the foundation of a Shared Vision document.
-
Transparent Reporting will follow. We will share results openly and track how community feedback translates into action.

Volunteer registration will open November 2025
