Summer Food Service Program Staff
Position Overview and Goal:
To help ensure that children of income eligible areas of Kansas receive the nutritional support they need to prevent childhood hunger, the Summer Food Service Program Staff Summer VISTA will assist with the daily promotion, set-up, management, tear-down and clean up of the Social Innovation Lab's "That Pop-up Restaurant" summer feeding program.
​Main Job Responsibilities

On days of operation set-up, provide service, tear-down and clean up the Social Innovation Lab's "That Pop-up Restaurant".

Assist with state-required record keeping, program evaluation and soliciting feedback from users.

Promote the TPUR operations using printed materials and social media.
Marketing and Special Projects Coordinator
Position Overview and Goal:
Build the capacity of the Social Innovation Laboratory so it remains a viable presence well into the future and can fulfill its mission of helping improve social programs and the processes behind them to ultimately break the cycle of poverty through developing, documenting and marketing organizational projects.
​Main Job Responsibilities

Work with SIL staff and board on developing branding and marketing for the SIL and its associated projects.

Update and develop content for the SIL website and social media

Represent the SIL and its projects at various community and networking events
Food Insecurity Advocacy Program Coordinator
Position Overview and Goal:
To help ensure that children of income eligible areas of Kansas receive the nutritional support they need to prevent childhood hunger, the Food Insecurity Advocacy Program Coordinator VISTA will expand the capacity of the SIL SFSP and develop a mobile food pantry model to address the needs of selected food deserts and underserved populations in Kansas experiencing food insecurity.
​Main Job Responsibilities

Use current census data and Kansas Department of Agriculture data to create a process for SIL to prioritize growth opportunities in areas of need in the state for the summer of 2021 and beyond.

Based on this research, create a plan for implementing a SFSP in each select community that includes building partnerships with city officials, school personnel, and business leaders to identify potential SFSP leadership.

Establish and facilitate an advisory committee for this project (food insecurity) which would include significant representation of the target youth, their families, experts, and partner organizations.

Learn fundraising and grant writing techniques and use as needed.

COMPENSATION:
The positions are full-time with flexible scheduling based on unique organizational programs and services. Compensation is based on current full-time VISTA pay in the 66801 zip code. Health benefits are available.
